A simple, colorful informational poster prepared by the Japan Meteorological
Agency clearly and succinctly tells people what to do when they hear an Earthquake
Early Warning (EEW) alert. Though originally prepared in Japanese (back cover),
the message translates well into English (front cover) and other languages (see
http://www.seismosoc.org/publications/srl/eew/posters for translations). EEW is
the topic of the special section of this issue of Seismological Research Letters that
focuses on methodologies and implementation experiences; the first of the special
section’s nine articles begins on page 682.
