The 2006 William B. Joyner Memorial Lecture and the 100th Anniversary of SSA Founding

The Seismological Society of America's founding members approved SSA's first governing documents 100 years ago on 20 November. To commemorate this event, a special presentation of the 2006 Joyner Lecture by Norm Abrahamson will be held in San Francisco on 20 November 2006 at Pacific Gas & Electric Company, 245 Market St., San Francisco, in the first-floor auditorium. Abrahamson's lecture is entitled "The Seismology-Engineering Interface: The Need for Two-Way Flow of Information." Following the lecture, Clarence Allen, Lloyd Cluff, and Paul Jennings will give short presentations on the evolution of seismology over the past century. Birthday cake and refreshments will follow the presentations. Registration is required. Price is $20. Students with current student identification are free, but a registration is required to reserve the seat. For more information and to register, go to http://www.seismosoc.org/meetings/2006birthdayceleb/.
