    BSSA Issues 1911–Present Now Online
 
Seismological Society of America members now have online access to all issues of the Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 1911–present. In commemoration of its centennial, SSA scanned all of the "legacy" issues of BSSA from 1911 through 1999, converted them to searchable PDF format, and added them to the electronic edition of BSSA. This electronic edition is available to SSA members through the members' section of the SSA Web site, http://www.seismosoc.org. BSSA issues from 2000 forward are available in both PDF and HTML formats.

Demand for the legacy issues of BSSA remains strong among both scientists and engineers, contrary to the demand for publications in some other scientific fields. BSSA legacy issues also contain much of the history of the relatively young science of seismology. For these reasons, the SSA Board of Directors agreed that putting all of BSSA online was a fitting project for the SSA centennial and a worthwhile effort that would make these issues easily available to researchers of the current generation—a generation that looks first to the Web for information.
